Tigers Split With East Georgia; Roll 15-3; Fall 11-6

SWAINSBORO, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team split a doubleheader with East Ga. State on Saturday in Swainsboro, run-ruling the Bobcats 15-3 in 7 innings in game one, then dropped the nightcap 11-6, despite rapping out 13 hits. The Tigers are now 21-12-1 overall on the season, and 6-4 in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA), tied for 2nd place, 3 games back of leader Georgia Highlands.

In game one, the Tigers unloaded on offense, banging out 18 hits, including 7 for extra bases, in just 7 innings to roll to the mercy rule shortened 15-3 win. Jonathan Manibusan paced the Tiger attack, going 3 for 5, with a double, his 5th homer of the season, 5 RBI, and scored twice, Jack Hay went 3 for 3 with a pair of runs scored, a double and an RBI, Kaleb Podger and JT Whatley each went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, Jacob Pierce and Barron Northorp each had a pair of hits and an RBI, Blake Falor had 2 hits and scored twice, and Jake Edwards tripled in 2 runs, while starter Dalton Harrell picked up his 1st win of the year, scattering 5 hits in 5 innings, while striking out 4.

The Tigers couldn't hold an early lead in game two, and East Ga. steadily built the lead, finally taking an 11-6 victory. Brayden Eavenson was 3 for 4  with 3 RBI, Jake Edwards went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 runs scored, Long singled in 2 runs, and Podger was 2 for 5 with a run scored and an RBI.

Andrew travels to Emerson, GA on Tuesday for the second time in just over two weeks to take on Georgia Highlands in a 2:00 pm doubleheader. The Chargers took a pair of close games in the first meeting, winning the opener 4-2, then had to rally from an early 4-0 deficit, scoring 6 late runs to hang on to a 6-5 win.
