Tigers Outslug CVCC 9-7; Bourque 2-Run Homer Is The Difference

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team pounded out 14 hits, including 7 for extra bases (4 doubles and 3 homers) and knocked off national powerhouse Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) 9-7 on Tuesday night at the Hord Athletic Complex. With the score tied at 7-7 entering the bottom of the 7th inning, Jonathan Manibusan led off the inning with a single, was sacrificed to second by Jake Edwards, then pinch hitter Andrew Bourque belted a long 2-run homer for the deciding margin. Jonah Stout came on in the top of the 6th inning to put down a CVCC rally, and finished the game with 4 innings of work, allowing 2 hits, and striking out 4, to earn his first win of the season.   

The Tiger offense got contributions from nine different players. Joey Fletcher was 2 for 4, including his second homer of the season and had 2 RBI, Bourque finished 1 for 1 with his 2-run homer, Griffin Long singled and picked up a pair of RBI, Reid Ragsdale went 2 for 4, with a double, 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a stolen base, Jacob Pierce doubled and homered, scored a pair of runs, stole a base, and picked up an RBI, Tyler McKay went 2 for 5 with a double, Edwards doubled in a run, and Manibusan also went 2 for 5 with a run scored, as the Tigers ran their record to 7-2 on the season.

The Tigers are back at Hord on Wednesday, where they will take on the Thomas Univ. JV in a 2:00 pm doubleheader.
