Tigers Roll Over Point Univ. JV 15-7 and 13-1; Run Record to 5-0

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- With the 15-7 and 13-1 wins over the Point University JV on Monday at the Hord Athletic Complex, the Andrew College baseball team has raced out to the best start of Head Coach Blake Williams nine years in charge in Cuthbert at 5-0. The Tigers banged out 19 hits in game one, and Colby Fields tossed a 2-hitter in game two, as the Tigers head to Florida this weekend for their first road games of the season.

In game one, Wade Law belted a grand slam homer in the bottom of the 1st inning to erase a 3-0 deficit just four batters into the game, Griffen Long followed with a two-run blast, two batters later, and Andrew overcame a shaky start and eased to the 15-7 win. Reid Ragsdale went 4 for 4, with a triple, an RBI and scored 3 times, Andrew Bourque was 4 for 5 with a double and a pair of runs scored, Griffin was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and pair of RBI, Jake Edwards went 3 for 4, with a double and 2 RBI, and Law was 2 for 5 with 4 RBI. Alex Blount came on in relief to toss 4 innings, allowing just 1 earned run, while striking out 6 to pick up his 1st win of the season

Fields was dominant in game two, allowing just 2 hits, an unearned run, and striking out 7 in a complete game effort. Law paced the Tiger offense, going 4 for 4, tripling, scoring twice, and driving in 3 runs, and Robert Malone went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored and 3 RBI, as Andrew turned 6 hits into 13 runs.   

The Tigers make their annual trip to the Kevin Miller Tournament, hosted by Gulf Coast State in Panama City, FL, this weekend, taking on Chattahoochee Valley CC (AL) on Friday, St. Johns River State College (FL) on Saturday, and Gulf Coast State College (FL) on Sunday.
