Tigers Sweep SW Tennessee 9-8 and 7-6; Run Record to 3-0

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team, in game one against Southwest Tennessee Community College (SWTCC), rallied from an early 7-2 deficit, retook the lead on a 2-run blast from Joey Fletcher in the bottom of the 6th inning, were tied back up in the top of the 7th inning, then won it 9-8 on an infield single from Kevin Henry with two outs in the bottom of the 7th. Andrew took an early lead in game two, before hanging on to win 7-6, and run their record to 3-0. Relief pitcher Lorne Barineau picked the win in game one, and then the save in game two. 

Fletcher led the Tiger attack in game one, going 3 for 4 with a double, a 2-run homer and 4 RBI, Griffen Long was 2 for 5 with a pair of runs scored, a stolen base and an RBI, Kaleb Podger singled in a pair of runs, and Grant Hall was 1 for 1, with a run scored and an RBI, and walked 3 times. Starter Dalton Harrell struck 4 in 3.2 innings, Ezra Brown fanned 6 in 3 innings of work, and Barineau retired the only batter he faced in the top of the 7th inning to put out a threat, and picked up the win on Henry's walk off single in the bottom of the 7th.

In game two, the Tigers took a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning, starter Jared Cox was steady, allowing just 2 earned runs over 5 innings while striking out 5 to pick up his 1st win of the season, but needed Barineau to come on again in the top of the 7th inning to strike out 2 and pick up his 1st save of the season. Jacob Pierce belted a 2-run opposite field homer and scored a pair of runs, Podger was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored, Tyler McKay went 2 for 4, Wade Law doubled in a run, and Fletcher and Henry singled in runs as the Tigers managed 7 runs on just 8 hits.

Andrew is back at Hord on Monday with a doubleheader against the Point University JV, first game is at 2:00 pm.
