Former Tiger Chandler Raiden Gets Promoted to Double A Montgomery Biscuits

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- Former Andrew College baseball player Chandler Raiden has been promoted by the Tampa Bay Rays to their Double A affiliate in Montgomery, AL, the Montgomery Biscuits. The Biscuits currently sport the best record in the Southern League with a 71-40 record. This is Raiden's second season in professional baseball, and his first full season, having signed a free agent contract following his senior season at Florida International University in Miami, FL last June. The Tampa Bay Rays organization have an outstanding reputation for developing pitchers and the promotion indicates that Raiden is moving up the ladder with them.

Raiden had begun the season in April, playing for the Charlotte Stone Crabs in Port Charlotte, FL, the Advanced Single A affiliate of the Rays. He made 32 appearances, all but one in relief, where he threw 46 innings, had a 4-3 record, a 2.89 ERA and had 8 saves in 11 chances. He had 36 strikeouts and just 15 walks in the 42 innings. The Stone Crabs are currently in 1st place in the Southern Division of the Florida State League.

Raiden came to Cuthbert in the fall of 2014 from Whitewater High School in Fayetteville, GA. He led the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) with 9 saves in 2015, and made a team-leading 21 appearances. He signed with NCAA Div. I Florida International University in the early signing period, then led the Tigers with 5 wins in his sophomore season, while also picking up 4 saves in 18 appearances, as he switched back and forth as a starter and reliever.
