Tigers Split With Thomas JV; Holloway With Two More Homers

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Andrew College baseball team hosted their home opener on Monday afternoon at the Hord Athletic Complex, taking game one 10-0, before dropping the nightcap 10-4. The Tigers sport a 3-1 record on the young season, and will travel to Palatka, FL this upcoming weekend to face a stiff test in the Kevin Miller Classic.

Matthew Holloway continued his heavy-hitting early in the season, blasting a home run in each game, bringing his total to 3 on the year. In game one, it was a 2-run blast, where he also scored a pair of runs and stole 2 bases. Also in game one, Wade Law was 2 for 3, with a double and 2-RBI, Andrew Bourque went 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI, Clint Sellers went 2 for 3 with a runs scored, and Joey Fletcher pinch hit a mammoth two-run homer on the first and only pitch he saw in the bottom of the 6th inning to pace the offense. Daniel Lee shined in the start, going 3.1 innings, allowing just a pair of hits, while striking out 5, to earn his 1st win. Shawn Host went 2.2 innings, giving up just 1 hit, while striking out 3, and Jared Sigal pitched a scoreless 7th inning, striking out 1.

Game two saw the Tigers fall behind 7-2 after three innings and were unable to mount a comeback. Justin Barr was 2 for 2, with a double and RBI, Holloway went 2 for 4 with a homer, and LJ Bryant doubled in a run to lead the attack. Kyle Reynolds took the loss.

The Tigers play St. Johns River College (FL) on Saturday at 5:00 pm, then Gulf Coast State College (FL) at 10:00 am and Chattahoochee Valley Community College (AL) at 12:30 pm on Sunday at the Kevin Miller Classic. The Classic is a yearly event put on by Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, FL, but Hurricane Michael devastated their home field, and the site was moved to St. Johns River College in Palatka, FL for this years event.
