Former Andrew Baseball Player Chandler Raiden Signs With Tampa Bay Rays

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Former Andrew College right-handed pitcher Chandler Raiden has signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Rays. The major league club is part of the American League in Major League Baseball.

Raiden came to Andrew from Fayetteville, GA and Whitewater High School. Primarily a reliever as a freshman, Raiden led the team in appearances with 21, while leading the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) in saves with 9. After starting his sophomore season in the bullpen and racking up 4 saves, he was switched into the starting rotation where he picked up a team-leading 5 wins. Overall, Raiden made 39 appearnces as a Tiger, including 10 starts, threw 74 innings fanning 78 batters,  and won 6 games and had 13 saves. He signed with Florida International University in the early signing period of his sophomore season. Tha Panthers are an NCAA Dision I programs that competes in Conference USA.

Raiden was a key cog of the Panthers bullpen the last two years. The senior led the FIU pen with 25 appearances last season. He was 0-2 with a 4.72 ERA and had one save. Raiden made his only career start last April 25 against Miami in which he tossed two shutout innings. The Panthers defeated the Hurricanes 14-6 and swept the crosstown series.

In his two years at FIU, Raiden made 49 appearances and was 2-3 with three saves.
