Brenton Phillips Goes Deep Twice

Phillips Drives in 6 Runs; Tigers Rally Twice, Beat West Ga. Tech 8-6

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- On Thursday afternoon at the Hord Athletic Complex, the Tigers rallied from 4-1 and 6-5 deficits, behind a pair of 3-run home runs from left fielder Brenton Phillips, and Brady Jones came in to nail the door shut in the 9th inning, picking up his 3rd save of the year, to lead Tigers past West Ga. Tech 8-6.

Phillips was 2 for 4 in the game, with a pair of homers and 6 RBI. It was his second 2 homer game of the season, giving him a team-leading 5 homers on the year, and lifted the Tigers ahead 5-4 in the bottom of the 6th inning, then put them ahead for good, 8-6, in the 8th inning. Brent Todys went 3 for 4, belting his 4th homer on the season, driving in 1 run, and scoring twice, and Will Barry was 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored, as the Tigers picked up their 15th win of the season.

The Tigers have several players on the stats leaderboard in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA). Jordan Holt leads the region with 23 stolen bases, Todys is second in RBI (32) and sixth in home runs (4), Phillips is third in home runs (5), third in stolen bases (17), and fourth in RBI (29), Kelsey Weems is fourth in stolen bases (16), Kevin Donovan is third in strikeouts (43), Colby Mullins is third in wins (4), and Jones is third in saves (3). 

Andrew is at the Hord Athletic Complex to open the four games series with ABAC on Tuesday night at 6:00 pm. Thursday's single nine inning game is at 6:00 pm in Tifton, GA, then the doubleheader finale is Saturday at 1:00 pm, also in Tifton.
