Tigers Roll in Sweep of Thomas Univ. JV 10-0 & 13-3

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- The Tigers pounded the Thomas Univ. JV in their home opening doubleheader, tossing a combined no-hitter and winning game one 10-0 in a mercy run-ruled victory, then bringing out the lumber in game two, cranking out nine extra base hits, including 7 doubles, a triple, and a homer in another mecy run-ruled affair, winning 13-3 at the Hord Athletic Complex on Friday.

In game one, starter Kevin Donovan (1-0) went 4 innings, allowing no hits, while striking out 3, then Brady Jones struck out 2 in his only inning of work, as the Tigers allowed only one runner to reach base, on an error, as the Tigers faced just 1 batter over the minimum in the shortened game. Jordan Holt had a pair of hits, stole 2 bases, and scored twice, Brenton Phillips went 2 for 2 with a double, 2 stolen bases, and 2 RBI, Spencer Nelson and Kodi Bishop each had a hit and 2 RBI, and Dahlton Cash and LJ Bryant each doubled in a run, as the Tigers took advantage of 7 walks and timely hitting to cruise to a 10-0 win.

In game two, Holt went 3 for 3, all doubles, drove in 3 runs, scored 3 runs, and had another 2 stolen bases to set the table for the Tigers attack. Brent Todys came alive, also going 3 for 3 with a pair doubles, a triple, and a pair of RBI, Sean Gourley went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, and 3 RBI, Phillips and Bryant both had a pair of hits, with Phillips driving in one run, and Kodi Bishop smoked the Tigers 1st home run of the year, a no doubter to left. Daniel Lee (1-0) picked up the win on the mound as the Tigers used 4 pitchers, striking out 3 and allowing just 3 hits and 2 earned runs over the 5-inning game.

The Tigers match up with Brewton Parker on Monday was cancelled due to wet fields, but the Tigers managed to add Wallace State-Dothan for a single nine inning game on Tuesday at the Hord Athletic Complex, first pitch at 3:00 pm.
