Fighting Tigers baseball announces 2018 roster

Cuthbert, GA --  The Andrew College Fighting Tigers have finalized their roster ahead of the 2018 spring baseball season.

The 2018 roster will feature some familiar faces to Tigers fans with 14 returning players.  Eleven of them will be listed as sophomores, while three will be listed as redshirt freshman.  The large group of returnees will provide the Tigers with great leadership and a core of players with college experience from the Tigers strong 2017 season.

Two transfer players are expected to make a large and immediate impact for the Tigers.  Both played their 1st season of college baseball with Alabama colleges last year.  Pitcher Kevin Donovan (Wallace State) and catcher Brent Todys (Wallace Dothan) were both named team captains proving their impact during the fall.

The Tigers heralded recruiting class has not disappointed as the incoming freshman made a huge impact as soon as they stepped on campus.  The 2018 roster will include 12 freshmen with many looking to see significant playing time heading into the season.

At the conclusion of fall season the team voted on captains for the 2018 season, 4 sophomores will have the designation of team captain: Dahlton Cash, Brandon Brown, Kevin Donovan, and Brent Todys.

Catchers – 4, Infielders – 7, Outfielders – 5

Players by state: Georgia – 21, Florida – 5, Alabama – 1, Ohio – 1

 

Some fun facts about the Tigers 2018 roster:

Tallest player: Nicholas Kempf (6'4") Kelsey Weems (6'4")

Shortest player: Jordan Holt (5'9") Matthew Holloway (5'9")

Freshman Will Barry was the 2017 Georgia single A Player of the Year.

The fastest man on the team, Jordan Holt, was timed running a 6.24 60 yard dash in the fall.

Sophomore Kevin Donovan was a 2017 NJCAA Academic All-American.

Freshman Matt Holloway is the younger brother of former Tiger and current USC Aiken Pacer Cary Holloway.

8 current Tigers were either State Champs or runner-ups in their High School careers, with Freshmen Will Barry & Clint Sellers claiming 2 each (Schley County, 2015 & 2017).

Two sophomores have already signed scholarships for the 2019 season, Jordan Holt with Valdosta State and Colby Mullins with Middle Georgia State College.
