Tigers Announce 2018 Spring Schedule

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Head coach Blake Williams and the Fighting Tigers coaching staff are excited to announce the 2018 spring baseball schedule.  The 2016-17 Tigers baseball team finished with the second most wins in school history and made an outstanding run to the semi-finals of the NJCAA Region 17 Tournament.  The Tigers will look to capitalize on the success of last season as they move into the 2018 season.

The Tigers will open the season at home with two double headers, first starting on Saturday January 27th against Thomas University JV and then on Monday January 29th against Brewton Parker JV.  The first four games of the season will get the Tigers ready for their first big test as they travel south to Panama City Beach, Fl for the Kevin Miller Invitational tournament.  The Tigers will face national powers Gulf Coast State College (FL), St Johns River State College (FL), and Chattahoochee Valley Community College (AL) in consecutive days.

The Tigers will return to action on Feb 7th at Tallahassee Community College (FL) before they hit the road for their second tournament of the year in Andalusia, AL on the campus of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College. The Tigers will play three Alabama schools over two days.  The following week will see another series against an Alabama foe, as the Tigers will play a 3 game series with Enterprise State Community College (AL).

The following week of games will give the Tigers their toughest test of the season.  Tuesday Feb 20th the Tigers will host defending Alabama State Champs Wallace-Dothan (AL), then host Tallahassee Community College on the 21st, followed by a trip to Wallace-Dothan on Feb 23rd, and then back home on Feb 24th for a double header with Gulf Coast State College.  This week of games will be a good measuring stick of the Tigers before starting conference play.

To wrap up their out of conference schedule the Tigers will host Point University JV on Mon Feb 26th, before traveling to perennial power Chattahoochee Valley Community college in Phenix City, AL on Thursday March 1st.

March and April will see the Tigers take on the heart of their schedule as they enter Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association (GCAA) play.   The Tigers will compete in 30 contests in conference play, 5 games against each of the 6 other GCAA member schools.  The GCAA schools with baseball programs include: Georgia Highlands, East Georgia, South Georgia, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural, Gordon, and West Georgia Tech.  The top four teams at the remainder of the regular season will compete in the NJCAA Region 17 Tournament, with the winner advance to the NJCAA East Central District Championship Tournament.  The winner of the East Central District will earn the right to advance to Grand Junction, Colorado for the NJCAA World Series.
