CF Holt Picks Valdosta State University

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Andrew College Baseball Head Coach Blake Williams announced that left-handed hitting center fielder Jordan Holt has signed to play at Valdosta State University following his sophomore season at Andrew.  

Holt, a sophomore from Ellenwood, GA and Jonesboro High School, started 49 games for the Tigers last year, notching 31 hits, including 3 doubles and a homer, while stealing 20 bases in 20 attempts. This fall, Holt really turned the corner, hitting a team-leading .462 in 20 fall games, going 24 for 60, with 10 RBI, 3 doubles, a pair of triples, and a team-leading 13 runs scored. He also paced the team with a .500 OBP, a .596 SLG, and a 1.096 OPS. He was named to participate in the GCAA All Star Event held at Mercer University in Macon.

Valdosta State University, located in Valdosta, GA, is a long-time NCAA Div. II program, a part of several conferences before joining the Gulf South Conference (GSC) in 1983. Last year, the Blazers posted a 33-22 overall record, including a 20-13 GCS record and received an NCAA Div. II Baseball Championship bid to the Tampa, FL Regional. Head Coach Greg Guilliams is entering his ninth season in Valdosta, where he currently he has recorded 286 wins against 174 losses and one tie, a winning percentage of .621. He has directed VSU to two of its four Gulf South Conference championships, a feat accomplished in both 2010 and 2013, as well as a GSC East Division title in his initial season. Overall, Valdosta State has advanced to NCAA postseason play in three of his seven years and has finished in the Top 25 in the nation four times.
