Branche Clubs 3-Run Homer in the 7th; Tigers Earn Series Split With Ga. Highlands

LAKEPOINT, Ga. -- After dropping 2 of 3 games in the series, and trailing 4-3 with 2 outs in the top of the 7th inning in game four, Mike Branche unloaded a 3 run blast to put the Tigers ahead for good, and earn a split of the four game series with Georgia Highlands. After taking game one in Cuthbert on Tuesday 6-1, the Tigers dropped Friday nights affair 5-2, then game one on Saturday 3-2, before Branche's second homerun of the season lifted the Tigers to their 20th win on the season, and kept them firmly in 2nd place in the GCAA. Branche's 31 RBI put him in a tie for 2nd place in the GCAA.

Dahlton Cash launched his team-leading 3rd homer in the top of the 3rd inning to stake the Tigers to an early 3-0 lead, before the Chargers retook the lead in the bottom of the 5th inning, to set the stage for Branche's heroics. Brandon Brown picked up his 3rd win with 2 innings of relief, and Logan Foster knotched his 2nd save, stranding the tying run at 3rd base when the game ended.

The Tigers take on West Ga. Tech next week in their GCAA four game series. Tuesdays game is in Carrollton, Ga., then Friday nights single nine inning game, and Saturdays doubleheader will be at the Hord Athletic Complex.
