Anderson Shines in Relief; Tigers Earn Split With ABAC

CUTHBERT, Ga. -- Reagan Anderson pitched 4 innings of shutout ball and struck out 2 to even his season record to 1-1, as the Tigers won game one 7-4 on Saturday at the Hord Athletic Complex, before dropping the nightcap 6-5 to ABAC. The Tigers took the series 3 games to 1 and sit in 1st place in the GCAA after the opening weekend of games. The Tigers are on their bye next week in the GCAA.

Anderson came on in relief in the 4th inning with the Tigers down 4-3 in game one, and shut down the visiting Stallions. The Tiger offense came alive in the 5th inning, posting 4 runs, and Anderson took it from there. Mike Branche went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI, Dahlton Cash was 2 for 4, Kodi Bishop had a hit and 2-RBI, and Chris Schwarzer was 1 for 3 and scored a pair of runs.

In game two, the Tigers took a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the 6th inning, highlighted by Bishop's grand slam home run, but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead, as ABAC scored 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning to retake the lead. Josh Peters was 2 for 4, scored once, and stole his team-leading 14th base.

The Tigers will take on CVCC in a single nine inning game on Tuesday at Hord. Game starts at 6:00 pm.
