Dr. Kelly Britsky enters her second year as the head women's basketball coach and assistant athletic director of the Fighting Tigers. In her first year at Andrew College, her young team demonstrated significant growth and improvement, earning a spot in the program’s first-ever final four appearance in the GCAA tournament, with Braniya Baker earning All-Conference honors and All-Conference Tournament honors.
Britsky came to Andrew College from Spartanburg Methodist College in Spartanburg, S.C. She led the Pioneers to four back-to-back NJCAA Region 10 Championships and was named Region 10 Coach of the Year three times. She coached four Region 10 Players of the Year and 12 All-Region Players, three players with NJCAA All-American honors, over 25 Region 10 All-Academic team members, and four NJCAA Academic All-Americans.
Before SMC, Britsky was the head coach at Georgia Southwestern State University for twelve years. During Britsky's tenure, the Hurricanes built the program's NCAA resume. Their appearance in the 2010 Peach Belt Conference Tournament was the first time the GSW women's basketball program had made a postseason tournament since the 'Canes' appearance in the NAIA Tournament in 2001. That tournament appearance in 2010 represented the accelerated improvement of the program. Britsky and her teams built a robust, competitive program in an era of growth at GSW and positively impacted the campus and community. While at GSW, Britsky also served as an instructor in the College of Education.
Prior to GSW, Coach Britsky had a successful coaching tenure at LaGrange College (1999-2007) in LaGrange, Ga. She was the first head coach of the Panthers basketball program, leading them to a United States Athletic Association National Tournament appearance in the program's third year. The Britsky era at LaGrange included numerous accolades and a 100% graduation rate, demonstrating her leadership and commitment to student-athlete success. Britsky was honored as the 2001-2002 and 2006-2007 Great South Basketball Coach of the Year, further solidifying her coaching prowess.
At LaGrange, Britsky also coached volleyball for ten years with a record of 193-150. Her teams appeared in three United States Athletic Association (USCAA) national tournaments and finished runner-up three times in the Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC). The Panthers won 20 or more matches in six of her ten seasons. The volleyball team produced four All-Americans, seven all-region players, a region player of the year, a three-time region setter of the year, 20 all-conference players, two conference players of the year, and many All-Academic team members. Britsky also served as Senior Woman Administrator, Compliance Director, and a stint as a head softball coach for two years.
Britsky's journey in sports and education is a testament to her resilience and determination. She attended Abraham Baldwin College and was a member of the 1991 National Championship team in softball, also named to the All-National team that year. She then went to LaGrange College, where she finished her athletic career and earned a degree in history and education. She stayed on as an assistant coach after graduation in 1994 when LaGrange College won a national championship in softball. She left LaGrange and spent three years at Perry High School, where she coached softball, basketball, and track before returning to LaGrange College to continue her coaching career and earn her Master's of Education. Britsky completed her Higher Education and Leadership Doctorate at the University of North Georgia.
Britsky was inducted into both the Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College Hall of Fame in 2010 and LaGrange College Hall of Fame in 2013. Britsky was honored for her time working on the 1991 Softball team at Abraham Baldwin. LaGrange College recognized her work as a student-athlete (1993-94) and coach (1997-2007).
